The Churchill Pride – February 26, 2018
Good morning Churchill community,
Churchill Pride has never been stronger. Walking through the classrooms and hallways of the school you see our students highly engaged in lessons which are helping them to develop and strengthen the skills which help them to succeed!
Way to go Churchill Lions!
Here are a few notes for the week!

Read Across America on March 2nd
This week Churchill joins in on celebrating Read Across America, and Dr. Seuss’ birthday. This is a perfect time to celebrate our love for reading at school and at home! It doesn’t matter what your age is, Dr. Seuss’ books are fun to read. We hope that you also have a chance to celebrate Read Across America by reading this week!
Kindergarten registration is still taking place for all students whose fifth birthday falls on or before September 1, 2018. Completing registration as early as possible is very important, as we will begin planning for the 2018-2019 school year over the next few months. Thank you for sharing this email with any friends or neighbors who will have a child joining the Churchill community this fall.
End of the Trimester
The second trimester ends on March 2, 2018. Report cards will be available via the Parent Portal on March 13. We know that our students will finish strong this term. Please do not hesitate to be in contact with the school or with the teachers of your student if there are any questions or concerns.
As we wrap up our winter round of parent conferences we would like to take a moment to stop and thank all of the parents who have come in to participate in the Student-Led Conferences. This is the perfect time of the year to celebrate student successes and to set goals for the rest of the school year.
Entering the Building Through the Main Entrance
This is also a good time to remind everyone about the importance of school procedures. Please remember that all parents and guardians need to enter the building through the Main Entrance (Door #1) and check into the office. I understand that at times this means having to walk around the building in inclement weather. Thank you in advance for your support of this important safety procedure!
Stay up to date with what is going on at Churchill!

Schaumburg Parent University – March classes
Schaumburg Parent University (SPU) is designed to involve more parents in the life of the school, to strengthen family relationships, and to improve parenting skills that will ultimately result in improved student success academically, socially and emotionally. There are two evening programs scheduled for March.
- Yoga Class (Finding Peace with Your Family) – This class is for parents and students. This class will teach you a variety of yoga styles sure to strengthen your core and increase flexibility. The class will follow the Vinyasa Yoga practice, which is one of the most popular styles of yoga in the United States. This type of practice involves synchronizing your breath with a continuous flow of postures. Bring a yoga mat or towel, and water. This class will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on March 14 at the Professional Learning Center, 522 East Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg.
- Decoding “I’m Fine” – This event is for adults only. Madelyn Burbank, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, will discuss the subtle impacts of divorce on children. This presentation looks at divorce from the perspective of the child. It blends research and personal experience to explore best practices for mitigating negative consequences. We will look at how to assist your child in adjusting to life post-divorce, including talking to your child about the divorce, managing transition and difficult behaviors, identifying behaviors which may require extra support, navigating co-parenting, parents dating and blending families. There will be a special focus on things you can do, regardless of how the other parent chooses to parent. This event will take place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on March 20 at the Professional Learning Center, 522 East Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg.
To register or for more information, contact Meg Kwak at (847) 357-6586 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Leave your name, contact information, the number of children requiring free childcare and the name of your child’s school.
