The Churchill Pride – April 30, 2018

Good morning Churchill community,

It was great to see so many of our Churchill families at our Celebrate Reading and Writing Night this week. It was great to be able to talk to students as they highlighted their original writing pieces as well as the creative pieces of art displayed throughout the building.

We hope that you have a great week!

Sincerely,

Steve Kern, Principal

Churchill & Hoover Elementary School

Invite 3-6th Grade Students to an Empty Bowls Soup Supper

May 8th  6:00pm at Churchill Elementary School

1520 Jones Rd. Hoffman Estates 60195

Please Join Us for a Simple Soup Supper to Help End “EMPTY BOWLS” in our Community. Hoover and Churchill Elementary Art Department have collaborated with students and staff to reveal how art, creativity, and kindness can be used to have an impact and create social change within our own community. Throughout the year, 3rd through 6th grade Students &  Staff have created and painted handmade ceramic bowls. These “Empty Bowls” serve as a reminder that 1 in 5 children go hungry every day and we all can do something to help those in need in our own SD54 Community.

Admission ticket to the Empty Bowl event is $10 for a Family of up to 4 people & $3 for each additional person.

Each Admission Ticket includes: ONE handmade ceramic bowl of your choice, along with a bowl of soup, a piece of bread, drink, and dessert for each person.

100% of the proceeds will go to the SD 54 Food Pantry.

Please RSVP to Ms. Wolfe at Churchill Elementary School by Thursday, May 3rd. Please make all checks payable to: Churchill Elementary School.

Rocketry Club

Churchill Rocket Club crew members experience the thrill of learning about aeronautics, aviation and forces in motion through multiple hands-on projects, including construction of model rockets. The annual District Rocket Launch at Olympic Park in May is truly an exciting and memorable highlight of this popular club, further igniting interest in related areas of science.

PTA Survey

Please help our PTA continue to be great by filling out this parent survey.  This is the same survey that is being sent home with your student. Please complete either the paper OR digital version, but not both.  The PTA thanks you for your input!

Please make sure you child hands in their permission form to their elementary teacher.  We will be collecting forms on April 30. The event will take place from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. A mandatory parent meeting will be held in the cafeteria from 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm to discuss chromebook expectations for the 2018-2019 school year.  If parents are able to attend this meeting, they will not have to attend the mandatory meeting at the beginning of the school year.
