#ChurchillPride – October 31, 2019

Dear Churchill Community,

Happy Halloween!  Due to the weather, we will be having our parade indoors today.  We will ask that any parent that would like to watch, please sign in at the main office between 12:30-1:00.  Please note, that we will be asking parents/guardians to stand in the middle of the gym while the students parade around the perimeter.  We will not have any chairs set up, it will be standing room only. Thank you for being so flexible with this crazy Halloween weather!

Please remember that only the scheduled PTA room reps are able to attend the classroom parties to facilitate the festivities that take place after the parade.

Please note, this email is in place of my Friday email.  We will not be sending another update out this week. Have a wonderful time trick or treating and enjoy the first weekend in November.  Please remember that it is daylight savings and we fall back on Sunday!

Enjoy your weekend!

SEL Survey Parents 3rd through 6th reminder

As a school we set goals at the beginning of the year. One of our goals specifically focuses on the wellness of the Whole Child. By focusing on our students’ social emotional health we help prepare them for the challenges, academic and other, that they might experience.

To help us better know our students we have an electronic survey that we are using this year. Teachers and students have already taken the survey. Recently you also received an email from me asking you to complete the social emotional survey for your child(ren) in grades 3rd through 6th as well. During conferences teachers also gave parents, who hadn’t yet completed the survey yet, a letter with your access codes so that you can still log in and take the survey. Our goal is to have 100% of the parents of students in grade 3 through 6 take the survey. We hope that you take a moment to complete this survey so that your perspective can be included as well. Later this year we will be generating an SEL report for parents. Note that the survey window closes on November 8th.

Severe Weather Procedures

In order to help parents better prepare for the severe cold weather and snow that we often get during winters in our community I wanted to share with you the District 54 Severe Cold Weather Response Plan. District 54 makes every effort to keep our schools open and operational, however sometimes circumstances beyond our control dictate the need to close schools.
