August 4, 2020

Good evening Churchill community,

This evening you should have received an e-mail from Superintendent DuRoss announcing that all of our students will begin the year with remote learning.  Our district remains committed to planning for the safe return of our students and staff.  Until we can be back in the building together we will strive to provide the best of remote experiences for our students.

As we think ahead to the start of school we are sure there are questions that remain.

  • Churchill students will be in virtual classes with their fellow Churchill students and taught by a Churchill teacher.  As of August 10th you can find your child’s teacher on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
  • We will send an e-mail with the schedule for instructional supply pick up.  On the designated date, families will be able to pick up any needed digital devices (Chromebook or iPads), text books, workbooks, and pre-ordered supply kits.
  • The first day of school for 1st through 6th grade students will be Monday, August 24th.
  • The first day of school for Kindergarten will be Monday, August 31st.
  • The back to school picnic has been canceled.
  • Information regarding a Virtual Curriculum Night will be forthcoming.
  • All other in person activities are canceled at this time.

While this is not the start to the school year we were hoping for, I want you to know that Churchill staff members are committed to providing a high quality virtual environment for our students. We will work tirelessly on their behalf and help to support everyone in the process. As you think of additional questions please feel free to reach out to me or Mrs. Sosin, our Assistant Principal.  We are happy to support our Churchill families through these challenging times.

Sincerely,

Mr. Kern and Mrs. Sosin
