Dear Churchill community,
We hope that you have had a wonderful week. Thank you to all of the parents of our virtual students for coming to school to pick up your child’s third trimester materials.
In the student materials you should have found an envelope that said do not open until Tuesday March 2nd. These envelopes are one per family and were sent with the youngest student in the family. Attached to the envelope was information about our related spirit week starting on Monday. We will send another communication on Tuesday revealing our whole-school community event that we are very excited to share with you and our students. Until then, our spirit days are as follows:
Monday: Many Colored Candy Monday – wear bright colors inspired by your favorite candies
Tuesday: Top Hat Tuesday – wear any hat
Wednesday: Wacky Wednesday – wear mismatched outfits and crazy hair
Thursday: Golden Ticket Thursday – wear gold
Friday: Favorite Character Day – dress as your favorite book character
Have a fabulous weekend!
Sincerely,
Steve Kern and Christi Sosin
Today our students participated in our 2nd virtual field trip. This time students visited the Hidden Worlds of the National Parks. Together students visited the Kenai Fjords of Alaska. They then had time to explore four more National Parks, including; Hawai’i Volcanoes, Carlsbad Caverns, Bryce Caverns, and Dry Tortugas. What was your child’s favorite national park that they visited?
As we have started to bring back students to school 5 days a week it is important that we review some safety procedures
Thank you again to all of our parents for your partnership as we work together to support our students who are at home learning via Zoom. Our primary grade teachers put together a video that we hope will be helpful for you as you are looking at systems that we use to encourage our children’s independence. Please know that at times it is important for children to “productively struggle.” Simply put this means that at times it is ok for a child to not immediately have the answer. Through strategic prompting we are able to scaffold our instruction so that students feel successful. We build their confidence by helping them to figure out the answers on their own.
We hope that you find this video helpful. Please reach out to any of us if you have questions that we might be able to answer. Link to Video
