Dismissal
We appreciate everyone helping to support a smooth arrival and dismissal process each day. To help you better understand what we do and why we do it during dismissal each day, please read below and call me if you have any questions.
Busses are called over the loudspeaker, one-by-one, and meet with a staff member in front of our school. The staff members and bus drivers work together to ensure all are accounted for. This helps us know where each of our students are during dismissal. While we are calling busses, teachers are each in their classrooms with the remaining students ensuring they are leaving at the appropriate times.
Once all bussers are dismissed, walkers are called and the teacher walks with them to the assigned dismissal door, where we have asked each of our teachers to ensure each student is dismissed to the correct adult.
Our typical timing is as follows: 3:00-3:05 Busses dismissed. 3:05-3:10 Walkers dismissed. While these are our target times, it does fluctuate depending on clubs, after school activities and being responsive to families’ unique needs each day.
This system, while it does take a few minutes, was designed with safety and consistency in mind. We believe this is the most important aspect to our job and want our routines and systems to reflect this. I am proud of our staff and our students for transitioning almost 600 Lions safely each day in such a short period of time. If you have any questions about arrival or dismissal, please give me a call and I’d be happy to chat. Thanks again for your flexibility as we all adapt to new routines as the school year settles in. Dismissal will began at 3:00pm (2:30 on Wednesdays) for bussers, and approximately 3:05 for walkers/car riders. Classrooms will be dismissed in stages to avoid overcrowding at each exit area.
BUS RIDERS
All busses will pull through the bus lane each afternoon. Students will exit through the main door (Door 1), and load their bus when it is called.
WALKERS/CAR RIDERS
Walkers/Car riders in Kindergarten and First Grade will exit the building through Door 14. Second Grade will exit through Door 15. Walkers/Car riders in Third Grade and Fourth Grade will exit through Door 12. Fifth Grade and Sixth Grade will exit through Door 14. Staff will be present at the doors as students meet their families.
